Unless your head is in the sand - you are aware that the World Cup is going on. Being in a country where soccer..er... football is HUGE the World Cup is a big thing. And with a big event like the Cup - there is this phenomenon that happens.... TV's begin to appear EVERYWHERE! On the river walk most all restaurants have a TV or two ... but now they have 3 or 4 or more - and they are the big flat screens and all! Even the smaller restaurants and cafes that are typically TVless now have one or two if they have hopes of having any customers for the next month. But I have to say the addition of a TV that made me shake my head a bit was just down the street from me. Near the end of my block there is this little pavilion where the men (only men) sit and play chess, drink their beer and have deep conversations.... and in that little pavilion there is now a TV... courtesy of the long cable hook up and cord coming out of an upstairs window down to the pavilion!! I will have to see if I can snap a pic of it to share later on in the week. It made me smile to see the determination of these men to still use their pavilion AND watch the World Cup.
